Film Spotlight: Wayne County Presents the 3rd Annual Detroit Windsor International Film Festival

Celebrated as one of America's leading new film festivals in a state with a booming film industry, the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) features the newest and most diverse voices of independent film from around the world in a first-class international forum. The 3rd Annual DWIFF is scheduled to run June 23 – 27, 2010 on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit. You can get your DWIFF tickets today by clicking HERE! For the second year in a row, The Detroit Windsor International Film Festival is proudly presented by Wayne County EDGE and ReelWC.

We invite prominent film industry members to meet, network and share ideas in an urban, educational setting while celebrating the talented voices within the independent film industry. This year, the festival will feature a slew of home-grown, locally made films including, "Bilal's Stand", "Annabelle & Bear", and "Grown in Detroit". With the support of our sponsors and partners, it is the DWIFF's mission to raise awareness of the film industry in our region, give back to local communities for their support of film development, and promote growth and longevity within the creative community.

Also, after its second year as a wildly successful film competition, the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) is announcing registration is officially open for this year's 48 Hour Film Challenge (a.k.a. The DWIFF Challenge). The DWIFF Challenge is a fast-paced, sleepless, adrenaline-pumping weekend in which participants form into teams to make movies—write, cast, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. Beginning on Friday June 11th, each team will get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre to include in their films. The strict timeframe of 48 hours is meant to apply pressure on the filmmakers—forcing them to focus on creativity and teamwork skills. The films will then be screened and judged during the festival.

Filmmakers and teams can sign up on the Event Brite website for $75 and get a $25 discount using the coupon code: dwiff2010. Individuals looking for a team to join can sign up for free. The orientation date, screening date and prizes will be announced at a later time.

We hope to see you at this year's Detroit Windsor International Film Festival.
