How do you fit quarter of a million people into 14 blocks of Warren Avenu? Ask the organizers of Dearborn’s Arab American Festival, the nation’s largest… and a shining reflection of the city’s unique and growing diversity.

Last weekend was the 14th Annual Arab-American Festival, where people from all over the U.S. and parts of Canada flocked to partake in the culture, music, and arts of the Middle East. Not to mention carney-run amusement rides (watch those fingers!)
The largest festival of it’s kind, the Dearborn festival drew 250,000 to Warren Avenue over 3 days. That’s down from the 300K of last year but still a remarkable number given the current economic climate.
Between musical acts there 30 international food booths to check out, a craft tent, a children’s program and, of course, coffee cup readings and henna.
Headlining this year’s festival was Arab singing star Hatim Idar, who was a finalist on “Superstar” — the Middle-Eastern version of “American Idol”
