Dearborn's Arab-American Festival

Last weekend was the 14th Annual Arab-American Festival, where people from all over the U.S. and parts of Canada flocked to partake in the culture, music, and arts of the Middle East. Not to mention carney-run amusement rides (watch those fingers!)

The largest festival of it's kind, the Dearborn festival drew 250,000 to the city's growing Warren Avenue over the Father's Day weekend. That's down from the 300K of last year but still a remarkable number given the current economic climate.

Between musical acts there were 30 international food booths to check out, a craft tent, children's programming and, of course, coffee cup readings and henna.

Headlining this year's festival was Arab singing star Hatim Idar, who was a finalist on "Superstar" -- the Middle-Eastern version of "American Idol"

It's all over now but the festival will, of course, return next year. In the meantime click on the YouTube video below to watch Dearborn's incredible diversity in action!
