Before the Painted Lady was the Painted Lady it was a place everyone knew as Lili's 21. It was the center of the punk world. Well, no, it wasn't, but it was pretty important, and was one of the first bars in the area to take a bite out of punk rock and call it its own back in the late 70s when it was first opened. And Lili's 21 was owned and ran by a woman named ... guess? ... Yep, Lili.
Now it's the Painted Lady. Lili passed away, the bar was bought, and renamed (in honor of Lili), and the success of the place continues. It's not like the heyday, but what is, really? The Painted Lady offers you a good beer, a good atmosphere, some of the best, and interesting, live music Hamtramck has to offer.
