Planet Ant

2357 Caniff

Corner of Caniff and Fleming

You can't miss the Planet Ant. It's the purple building on the north side of Caniff with the ant head painted on it. You also shouldn't miss the Planet Ant, Hamtramck's funny version of Broadway. For over ten years this house-turned-community theater has put one dozens and dozens of plays, hosted hundreds of improv nights, and has kept Hamtramckans and non-Hamtramckans alike laughing.

For less than ten bucks you can see some of the funniest plays and people around, and that's no joke (pun intended).

The Planet Ant is also aware of itself and where what city it lives in often doing plays or pieces about or referencing Hamtramck itself. They stay up on the holidays offering Halloween and Christmas pieces. And number of the Planet Ant players are involved with the more well known improv empire called Second City.

Downsides are hard to find ... but here is one: Parking if there's been a snowstorm. Good luck, you'll need it.
