My career with Biznet began in February of 09’ as an intern. I signed up with Oakland University’s career services in January of 09’ and within a month I received a phone call for an interview. They said they saw my resume on Oakland’s database (I didn’t even reach out to them!) and brought me in. I was ecstatic and a little nervous given it was my first interview for a possible “career job,” but I nailed it and got the paid internship I was hoping for. While pursuing a degree in Business Marketing I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me to jump-start my career! Over the following months I gained a vast amount of knowledge on digital marketing, social media, and the importance of communicating effectively. Come September business was starting to boom and I was offered a full-time position as Marketing Coordinator. I was overjoyed and didn’t even think twice; I took the offer.
My responsibilities today include website copy writing and tweaking, search engine optimization, article and video distribution, analyzing metrics, social media monitoring, building client relationships...basically the behind the scenes stuff that helps companies websites get ranked higher in search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing...etc). I love what I do and I love the team I work with (probably most important factor for a successful business). The most rewarding part for me is seeing these campaigns, that we work so hard on, succeed and drive traffic along with potential business to their websites.
