Education: Jobs Landed

I empower individuals who are overwhelmed and frustrated to feel peaceful, confident and accomplished through my exclusive Schedule Makeover process. On a day-to-day business this means that I'm on the phone with clients across the country--from Hawaii to Missouri to Florida--and in South America, helping them to organize their time and create lives they really in-joy. I also do professional development training and speaking throughout the U.S., including speaking after Steve Forbes at the National Chamber Foundation's Business Horizons Retreat and regularly putting on Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour events.

I am currently a solutions consultant for college textbooks and technology/software solutions company in which I help educators find the right materials and technology for their courses. My territory includes the 2-year and 4-year higher education market in Michigan and Ohio. My responsibilities include growing sales in 37+ disciplines in the areas of Business, Economics, IT, Computer Science, Career Education, and Education.
 
Personally, I love working for Pearson because I feel like I am contributing to a team that is creating solutions that positively  impact the way the world operates and how students learn and succeed, both in college and beyond. I love and respect the fact that Pearson is giving students different delivery choices in both technology and texts, which is something I didn’t have a few years ago while I was in school.

I am a physical Education Teacher at the high school level.  I am also the students council advisor and assistant track coach!

Nelson Mandela declared, “Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.”  Everyday in the classroom, I challenge young people to expand the parameters of their minds, in order to be critical thinkers in a chaotic world.  Our youth need to realize, they are not the NEXT generation but they are the NOW generation.  Now is the time to infuse character, hope, and healing into their lives via the vehicle of education which will transform our world.

As a cancer survivor, I share my inspiring story of overcoming the odds and transforming life’s trials into triumphs.  In spite of cancer I decided that “I CAN” overcome with my determination and the strength of God’s healing power.  I infuse my inspiring story, the power to persevere, and messages of hope into my 3 books, classrooms, churches, conferences, and various arenas, in order to compel and propel individuals to unlock the doors to their potential.

My job is great because everyday varies. I am able to spend my time doing everything from photography, to writing and editing, to website work. I am responsible for the management of the external school website, the dissemination and creation of the school's electronic newsletter, as well as the public relations and communications efforts of the school. I have a great deal of interaction with parents and students, as well as local journalists. I am the co-editor of the school's alumni magazine "The Beehive" and am always looking to Country Day's vast alumni community and past and current staff and faculty members to come up with most interesting story ideas.

My position falls under the school's department of external affairs and I spend a large portion of my day working together with my co-workers on a wide range of projects. It is a small department, but we all work together well and laugh a lot, which makes it fun to come to work.

I am the principal of a Kindergarten  through Eighth Grade School called the Academy of Lathrup Village.

In the Undergraduate Management Programs, we offer bachelor degrees in Business Management and Information Technology, with concentrations in business, leadership and entrepreneurship. I coordinate and perform strategic planning for the freshman and sophomore levels of the programs. My primary focus is on the student, and whether I am recruiting new students or advising current students, I place a high value on listening to their questions and concerns. Beginning this fall, I will also be serving as Director of the Your Lawrence Tech Quest program and am very excited. Quest allows students in the College of Arts and Sciences to receive faculty guidance, industry partnership and funding opportunities to work on research, arts and leadership projects. I also hold a faculty position, in which I teach business, law and University Seminar courses. I am continuously amazed at the quality of thought and work produced by our students and faculty. The best part about my job is working alongside many talented people who enjoy what they do. There is never a dull moment!

I design e-learning websites while working with other Gale team members to set branding and design standards for our products. I'm also responsible for coding the products I design using XHTML, CSS, and Javascript while working closely with programmers. I always keep the end user in mind, so I'm always interested in user feedback and focus groups to enhance our sites' user interfaces and aesthetic appeal.

As an information technology professional for more than 13 years, I have diverse and extensive experience in Web design, training and technology development, and technical documentation for a wide range of industries. At Innovative Learning Group, I am applying this knowledge and background to create web-based training solutions for a variety of customers using Flash, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. My duties also include coding Intranet and Internet based web sites as well as assisting with Information Systems tasks.
