Radio Disney is the local marketing arm of The Walt Disney Company. By leveraging powerhouse Disney assets across multiple platforms, including the Disney Channel, Disney Pictures, Disney Junior and more, Radio Disney creates positive on-site experiences for Metro Detroit Families aligned with internationally recognized and beloved content!

Not many people can truly say that they love their job, so I know that I am extremely fortunate that I do. In my position, I am in charge of all marketing, events and promotions in the Detroit market. I began working at The Walt Disney Company through an internship at Walt Disney World immediately after graduating college. I returned home to Detroit and began working part-time in the Promotion Department at Radio Disney while holding other various marketing positions in the area. When the opportunity to move into my current position presented itself, everything fell into place. I am lucky enough to work with amazing people and for a brand that I am passionate about. The best part of my job is the ability to bring the magic of Disney to our local Families – the pure joy and excitement that they experience makes all of the hard work worth it!

As a digital analyst I’m in charge of Web analytics, SEO (search engine optimization), and lead scoring for digital marketing campaigns. Part of Business Intelligence, I collaborate closely with our strategy team and consult to both clients and partners on various aspects of marketing analytics. Campaigns vary from automotive, healthcare, industrial, sciences, and more. The dynamic nature of these campaigns allow me to continually study a multitude of fields, and share data-driven insight. When schedule allows, I stay up-to-date with industry trends by attending seminars, webinars, and training, which the company encourages.
I learned about Marketing Associates when meeting a former colleague for lunch by Campus Martius. Aside from mutual professional interests, I was impressed with the company’s interest and contribution to the Detroit community. The initiative to support and be involved with non-profits, with a direct impact on our local community starts with our CEO, and is present in the camaraderie of my many colleagues. The positive mindset at the top is key to revitalize Detroit, and makes for a great working environment. And there’s always the beautiful riverfront when you need an analog stroll along our digital world.

Upon graduating from Central Michigan University, I interviewed with various companies, focusing on project/account management within marketing agencies. Getting an interview is the easy part – the hard part is finding a company with an opportunity that is a right fit for you. After interviewing at Shift Digital, who I discovered on LinkedIn, I felt I had found my niche. They are a growing company that provides digital marketing and fulfillment for major Automotive OEM’s and other National brands. Shift Digital has many positives; there are opportunities to grow within the organization, and I have supervisors that care about my professional development and success. In addition I’m very pleased to stay in the metro Detroit area.

hyperLOCAL Connections is my second, and now primary, venture. I am a "lean" startup enjoying the lean methodology to find market-fit for my idea. My startup is centered around the concept of city-wide loyalty campaign promoting the 'Buy Local' movement.  As founder of BuyLocalAnnArbor.com, I am 'discovering' the solution through customer development, a minimum viable product, interviews, iterations and pivots - all relatively fun stuff.  Until something amazing happens I've placed my architectural career into a holding pattern of sorts, but hope to get back into it after the economic dust has settled.

As a recent graduate I'm excited about beginning my career with Campbell Ewald where I'm looking forward to continue learning about this always evolving industry.  As the face of CE, it's my primary duty to greet employees, guests, and clients upon their arrival. I also assist in the opening and closing of the building, maintaining visitor and employee logs, and enforcing emergency procedure response and badge enforcement of 500+ employees. I decided to come back to the metro Detroit area after school because I was homesick and also wanted to be part of the city's revival. I found my job via LinkedIn after networking with fellow MSU alumni and discussing employment opportunities within the company. The thing I love most about my job is that I'm always getting to meet new people within my industry.

Casey Frushour

I knew a career in the graphic design field was in my future from a very young age. With a drawing pad always nearby, I would sketch anything that grabbed my eye. Later, during high school, I channeled this love for art into a small business designing t-shirts for student groups and athletic teams. This led me to attend the University of Michigan School of Art & Design to get a better understanding of graphic design theory and how I could use it to help people communicate their ideas. During school, I started my own freelance graphic design shop and began to take on several side jobs (whenever pesky homework didn’t get in the way) including a logo design for an airline and a website for a local life science company. Being a freelance graphic designer has allowed me to learn about so many interesting industries and meet some very inspiring entrepreneurs. It has also helped me to improve my graphic and web design skill sets at a much faster pace than when I was just working with one client.

I work with several clients throughout the Detroit region and beyond, providing public relations counsel and guidance. From writing and research, to media relations and crisis communication, we provide a number of diversified services. I definitely have a passion for writing and enjoy working on client news releases, pitch materials, press kits and more. However, I also have a passion for social media and its application to the field of PR. Social media is changing the way we communicate, and I love working in a field that allows me to be on the forefront of it all. The best part about my job is definitely the people I work with. Our agency team is like a family. We all work together, and despite the sometimes hectic nature of our jobs, we love what we're doing and have fun doing it. Not many people can say they landed their dream job right out of college, but that's exactly what happened to me. I love the creative freedom that my job allows me to have. I am never stuck doing the same task over and over again. I have something new and exciting waiting for me everyday, which is a refreshing feeling. Identity also has an extremely varied client base. We work with everyone from law firms to orthodontists, making a dull moment hard to find. I spend about 75% of my time writing and the rest conducting research, reading, communicating with clients and working on graphics concepts. My favorite projects include lots of writing and client relations -- I really enjoy building new relationships.

The people in my office work hard so they can play harder. Everyone enjoys the work they do, but they are also very social. We all enjoy having fun together and are fortunate in having the ability to do so. The partners host “quarterly activities” four times a year, monthly “Happy Hour’s” and team building exercises that help us to get to know each other on a more personal level. The office is very much like a family, which makes coming to work a fulfilling experience.

Working at Arzika is both a pleasure and a challenge.  I enjoy the freedom of brainstorming to come up with new and better ways to work on our events.  At 23, I attend meetings and know that my opinion is listened to and taken into consideration or execution.

As the Communications Specialist at Arzika, I am able to wear many hats working within many different departments including PR, marketing, production and operations.  Multi-tasking and time management are a must in my everyday life.  While I enjoy having various tasks throughout the day, keeping up with all 4 departments is always a challenge.

My schedule changes hour to hour, I never know what I will be doing for what department and I love it! Working in such a fast paced environment makes the day go by so much faster and keeps from becoming monotonous.

Stephanie Angelyn Casola

In January 2009 I stepped away from the career I loved and had never imagined leaving. After working for more than a decade as a full-time reporter covering arts, entertainment and news across metro Detroit, I watched newspapers, magazines and media outlets shrink and collapse around me. I knew I had to find a new way to use my writing skills and media experience. I had worked as a freelance copywriter for Publicity Works in the past and had a great working relationship with both Lisa Maas, the president of Publicity Works, and PR Manager Jim Miller.

The moment I announced I was leaving journalism and looking to make the move into public relations, they were both very supportive. I was hired on in a temporary capacity for a position that quickly led to my current full-time job as an account executive and content manager. I hope I was able to bring a reporter's perspective to our work, a sort of insider's understanding of deadlines, newsroom culture and story angles. I also made the move at a key time as social media began to take hold and transform in the industry. On my first week of work, Lisa suggested I read David Meerman Scott's The New Rules of PR and Marketing. With so much new to explore in the realm of social media, I was really drawn to the myriad of ways we are able to help share our clients' messages.

At Publicity Works I was encouraged to jump in with both feet and learn the PR ropes from every angle. I still spend much of my days writing – though now it is more often in the form of new business proposals, press materials and correspondence with reporters or clients. I love the fact that, as in my previous career, my days are never predictable. There is always a new challenge to tackle. We work with a wide range of clients – from restaurants to fashion taste-makers, non-profits and unions to financial experts. The approach changes to suit the needs of each one. I'm constantly researching some new topic. I've spent mornings looking on as one of our chef's cook on television;  days running around Fashion in Detroit runways to connect reporters with designers; and evenings supporting charitable events we've promoted. The work is fast-paced, interesting and unpredictable.

To keep my inner-journalist happy, I write a blog and freelance whenever there is time and opportunity to do so. I've found that as long as I'm doing work that I believe can make a difference, or shed light on something wonderful happening in the metro Detroit area, then I've accomplished something worthwhile. I feel lucky to continue to have that opportunity each day.

As an account coordinator at Tanner Friedman, I’m able to help create, implement and manage strategically developed communications plans to meet the needs of our clients. I'm one of two team members who leads Franco’s retail, lifestyle and entertainment accounts. I'm also highly involved in directing the agency’s social media efforts by providing strategies and counsel to Franco’s diverse client base. I'm part of Franco's Leadership Team, which advances the agency’s mission and growth. The beauty of working at a PR agency is the work I do varies from day to day. There are no "typical days" in the life of an agency PR professional. Some of my duties include writing media materials, media monitoring (print, broadcast and Web outlets and social networks), connecting and building relationships with media (traditional journalists and bloggers) on behalf of my clients, planning and implementing events, providing strategic counsel, advising on social media efforts and strategies, research, planning and executing PR campaigns, new business outreach and handling current or potential client crises. Aside from the previously mentioned roles, I also provide public relations programming and services to some of Franco's clients in the auto/tech, nonprofit and financial industries.

I'm involved in a few organizations that I consider to be "side jobs" because while they aren't part of Franco, they are directly related to me growing and advancing as a PR professional. I'm a member of PRSA Detroit and I help arrange events with the New Professionals Committee. I'm part of Social Media Club Detroit. There's no specific title, but I guess you could say I'm part of the executive team that's involved in planning each chapter meeting (which includes deciding on a location and presenter and spreading the word about the meetings via social media) and working to continue growing and advancing the Detroit chapter. I take notes of the presentations at each meeting and post them on our SMCD Facebook page. I'm also very involved with Tweetea. It's a weekly event on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at Goldfish Tea in Royal Oak. It's smaller scaled than SMCD, but the idea is to bring together metro Detroit's social media community in order to strengthen relationships beyond the ones we create via social networks. We usually discuss various topics throughout the evening with the goal being to take away something when you leave, such as a new tidbit of knowledge about a particular industry or person who attended.

I do marketing/advertising consulting. I go into a business write up a strategic marketing plan with executable channels to promote that companies brand. I then work that marketing plan on many levels -- PR, web, graphic design, TV, radio buys and all ad copy. I have strategic partners I work with in video and web who I bring in as needed. My costs are lower then a traditional marketing/advertising firm because I have no big beautiful building that I pay and pass that cost along to my clients.

I really love what I do and love to help businesses grow their brand or start a new brand. Most of my clients are credit unions and I also work in the film world as an actor, Art Director and marketer. I stay very busy because I network, network, network. And my clients refer me all the time.

I love the spontaneity of my job – no matter how planned out my day is, it’s never going to go exactly the way I thought. And with clients in the automotive and technology industry - particularly energy transmission and advanced batteries - I’m constantly learning! I spend about 70%  of my time writing and the rest conducting research, working with media, coordinating events and reading (I monitor for client placements and industry news). My favorite projects include writing/producing corporate brochures and event planning.

My office is very diversified so my co-workers work with clients in the non-profit, healthcare and retail industries, which is great because we all get a taste of each other’s work. We work hard - and sometimes long hours depending on events or large projects - but we always have fun together. A few times a year our bosses host “Franco Frolics,” where they take the whole office out for appetizers and cocktails. It’s just a great way to spend time together outside of work and get to know each other on a more personal level. We have a great family culture here, which makes coming to work that much easier.

I'm one of a handful of department heads that lead up the Interactive and Multimedia services that RingSide Creative has to offer. We do everything Interactive from brainstorming, to design, to development and launch. A few of our specialty areas include, but are not limited to, websites, microsites, Flash-based websites and microsites, blogs, social media advertising, banner advertising, rich media advertising, iPhone applications, other mobile phone applications, kiosks, touch-screens, augmented reality, research and development, and much more. I typically end up touching all aspects of our capabilities because I came from an advertising agency background which taught me to become very flexible and willing to learn. Normally I have some influence in the creative direction and design on projects or head it up in a lot of cases. In other instances I might be the lead developer on a project as well, whether the job calls for HTML, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, or any combination of these and beyond. RingSide Creative as a company has quite the assortment of talent in-house. Some of RingSide Creative's talent includes directors, creative editors, finishing editors, audio composers, audio licensing experts, compositors, film specialists, Telecine and color specialists, motion designers, visual effects artists, CGI/3D artists, interactive/multimedia designers and developers, retouching artists, and branding/strategy specialists. This variety is definitely one of the elements that attracted me to RingSide Creative, and it's true to form everyday. They call it an "Integrated Media Studio™" which basically means that every discipline within the company works together to really just make a better end product for the client, and ideally in "one-stop". There are a lot of cases where I may be working on an interactive project and want to spruce up a project a little bit to add some value for the client. In most cases, all of the talent I need is right around the corner. All I have to do is make a quick call or walk down the hallway and talk to the audio department to see what they can do to help me with some custom audio for my project; or stop by the CGI/3D department to see if they could help me out with a project that might benefit from some 3D animation. There are many more instances where being "integrated" proves to be very beneficial and fun as well. In a nutshell, RingSide Creative is quite a talented and inspiring place to work.

My main objective as one of the account leads that works with the divisional retail teams at General Motors is to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns that create showroom traffic at dealerships.  The team works to rapidly take a GM sales event and turn the key messaging into a personalized direct mail/email piece that comes to the consumer directly from their dealership. It’s fun to dive into data, see where people are likely to be in their new car buying cycle and create a campaign to get them in that new car. I love working with the team I’m on—we have a great group of individuals who truly understand the automotive environment and pull together some amazing concepts in a very short time.  Turns out late night and weekends aren’t just for the medical profession!  This office also does event and digital marketing for a variety of clients.
