The web developer serves a critical role in the development of both internal systems and online products, creating and coding the user interface of web-based applications. The web developer will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, guiding teams in effective user experience and usability.
Requirements: BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience • Minimum of two (2) years experience developing table-less, standards-compliant, and cross browser–compliant XHTML and CSS • Minimum of two (2) years Java programming experience • Ability to generate XHTML/CSS by hand, not using a WYSIWYG editor • Ability to develop high quality, user interfaces that adhere to usability and accessibility standards (e.g. W3C’s Content Accessibility Guidelines, Neilsen/Norman Group guidelines) • Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX and associated frameworks (e.g. jQuery, Prototype, Dojo) • Ability to generate novel solutions to user experience problems and visualize them in appealing web designs • Proficiency with image manipulation software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash) and WYSIWYG website design software (e.g. Adobe Dreamweaver) • Understanding of and experience in object oriented design and programming • Working knowledge of Java/J2EE, web services and development of service oriented applications • Knowledge of XML parsing • Understanding of integrated development environments (e.g. Eclipse) and version control software (e.g. CVS, Subversion) • Ability to think logically, critically, and constructively about complex problems • Possess strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to effectively lead discussions on user interface design amongst stakeholders and drive discussions to conclusion • Ability to make progress on tasks while dealing with process and project ambiguity
