SRG Global opened a new research and development center in Taylor this week.
The Warren-based firm's Advanced Development Center will allow the company to develop new chrome-plated plastics in a manufacturing setting in order to speed up their development and commercialization. Think: letting the products prove themselves faster by putting them in a real-world setting.
"It will develop new products, new processes and new innovations that we will bring to market," says Dave Prater, vice president of engineering and development for
SRG Global
.
SRG Global's new facility will include 46,000 square feet of laboratories and injection-molding presses. These tools will allow the company to produce limited runs of parts for coating and testing. It will also be used to create display parts for auto shows, including nameplates and emblems.
The plant will be staffed by a dozen white collar workers, including technicians, engineers, and scientists. It can employ up to 25 people, depending on the size of the project. SRG Global expects to expand its staff at the facility as it settles in over the next few years.
"As we grow the business we'll hopefully expand the staff," Prater says.
