RecycleMax
has had its ups and downs over its 13 years. The Dearborn-based company started with a few, watched its staff grow to dozens, watched it shrink to a fraction of that and now has plans to make another big move within the next five years.
The company provides recycling, document shredding and waste-disposal services across the country to the likes of Ford, Magna and the U.S. Postal Service. Today it outsources much of its work and has a staff of four people who handle sales of $4 million.
That number is expected to more than double to $10 million in 2010 and balloon to as much as $100 million within five years. The company also expects to break the 100 employee mark about the same time.
"We expect to hold steady this year and really explode in 2010," says Keith Zendler, CEO of RecycleMax.
The spark for that explosion is expected to be its website-based services. Zendler explains that there isn’t a website that focuses on dealing with recycling and thinks the one for his company will prove to be a blockbuster.
"It will allow us to be much more cost effective," Zendler says.
