Pure Entropy looks to take electronic security to new level, create jobs

Keeping secrets. That’s what Troy-based Pure Entropy Technologies is focusing on in the world of electronic communication. The Internet-security firm has big plans to make big bucks in the near future and add six jobs, too.

No doubt today there are a lot more power players in southeast Michigan who want to make sure their electronic communications (ahem, text messages) are kept from prying eyes.

Pure Entropy Technologies out of Troy looks to capitalize on that and the overall Internet security market this year. The three-man start-up just finished its first round of venture capital and angel investor funding and expects its products, such as email encryption, to hit the market with a bang this year.

“We’re going to continue developing applications,” says Tom DeAgostino, general counsel for Pure Entropy and one of its co-founders along with Kevin Lasser and Ramie Phillips III. “We’re working on contracts with Cisco, GM and some military contractors. We’re very optimistic about the future.”

So much so that it plans to hire another six people by the end of the year. It also hopes to see revenues climb to $3 to $10 million within six months.

In the meantime the company is continuing to develop its technology, even though it already has a good foundation to create new systems and applications from.
