Mort Crim Communications doubles staff in Southfield

The story of Mort Crim Communications is one of evolution from a small business focusing on broadcast and video work 18 years ago to a full-service marketing and public relations agency that has enjoyed substantial growth in recent years.

The Southfield-based business, also known as MCCI Corp, has crossed the 50-client mark over the last year and doubled its staff to 25 people and a handful of interns. The company expects to continue that growth over the next year, crossing the 60-client mark and becoming another 15 percent or more larger.

"Don't let anyone tell you that even when there is a sluggish economy businesses can't grow and thrive," says Terry Oprea, president & CEO of Mort Crim Communications. "We have and we're doing it well."

Mort Crim Communication's growth cycle really began to accelerate when it began to expand its service offerings a decade ago. That's when the company began expanding into convergence media, such as Internet marketing, social media and traditional public relations. That has resulted in Oprea saying that the social media part of his business is "white hot" and public relations work is "robust."

"Our footprint is starting to grow a little more aggressively," Oprea says.
