Leftos.com turns gender divide into innovative start-up

Zach Lipson and Ken Wohl are turning what has traditionally divided the genders into a start-up with promise.

Leftos.com, short for Lessons For The Opposite Sex, specializes in both men and women giving each other a clue or two about the other's thoughts and wants in dating, relationships, and love. The idea came when Lipson and Wohl, both in their early 20s, figured out that people their age were taking advice from people of their own gender.

"That doesn't really help anybody," Lipson says. "There are these stark differences in how we communicate with each other. We are trying to become one giant resource for men and women to expand on it."

That could mean women giving men tips on dating, to men letting women know why a guy just isn't that into her. The forums focus on being single, dating, sex, relationships, marriage, and divorce. Contributors can give their two cents anonymously.

The start-up launched this spring and is now trying to establish itself out of the North Woodward Tech Incubator in Troy. Lipson and Wohl plan to spend the next year establishing the company, building the website, and perhaps bringing on some interns.
