Robert Reno launched Encore Event Group out of Rockwood nearly a decade ago, mostly because of his frustration with mediocre parties where DJs only needed the slightest of skills.
"Everybody was just pushing play," Reno says. "We want to offer more of an experience at their event."
Encore Event Group offers a more comprehensive experience, such as adding decorations or hiring bands. That sort of extra effort has allowed the company to expand to 12 employees. It has recently hired three people and expects to add more.
Encore Event Group is also eyeing a move to new offices closer to the action in southeast Michigan. That means either Ann Arbor (where it already has an office) or closer to the city of Detroit.
"We want to make it easier for our customers to meet us face to face," Reno says.
