CTS rescues computer networks, creates jobs

When a computer goes down, it's not uncommon for the user to pay big bucks to get their digital stuff back up to snuff.

CTS Companies says it can do that within five minutes, which is a probably the reason why this Bloomfield Hills-based firm is simultaneously expanding while gobbling up the competition.

"We're one of the few companies that have been growing in the down economy," says Duane Ahola, a spokesman for CTS Companies. "We've done so well we have acquired two of our less fortunate competitors."

The voice and data communications company also provides wireless communication systems and networks. It has grown to about 60 employees in three locations (the others are in Ann Arbor and Port Huron) after recently adding a few new recruits. CTS hopes to continue this growth pattern in the near future.

Ahola says some of the company's best prospects for growth are in the disaster recovery sectors, especially as people and business become more reliant on computer systems. It has good reason to believe that as the company has doubled its revenue once every six months in that sector.

"We see it as a strong area for growth," Ahola says.
