ComSpec International expands with Oakland U work

ComSpec International recently deployed its EMPOWER Student Information System at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. It's a sale the Bingham Farms-based business believes is a sign of more to come.

EMPOWER runs the back end of everything at the medical school except for the academic side. Oakland University is the second medical school to adopt the system. Comspec International hopes to add 2-8 more colleges to its customer base over the next year.

"We'll probably be adding one more person soon," says Robert Brender, president of ComSpec International. "There is opportunity here."

The 28-year-old firm has 30 employees and a newly hired intern. A pick-up in business in recent months could mean both more employees and interns in the next year.

"There has been more activity in the last 3-4 months," Brender says.
