The Center for Michigan offers scorecard on state initiatives

metromode, 2/28/2008

Like Michigan's weather, the state has its bright spots, its slightly cloudy ones and others that are a bit gloomier than overcast. Ann Arbor-based The Center for Michigan has released a scorecard on the state's workforce, economy, quality of life and accountable government.

Excerpt:

"The 2008 Michigan Scorecard: Benchmarks for Michigan’s Transformation" was compiled from various research sources and edited by Michigan State University economist Charles Ballard. It tracks 36 measures of Michigan’s competitive standing in three areas: Workforce and Talent; Economy and Quality of Life; and Accountable Government.

The ratings couldn't be simpler -- thumbs up, so-so or thumbs down. The verdict: ten “thumbs-up,” seven “so-so,” and 19 “thumbs-down” grades.
