UM grad develops social networking site with cyber-stalking blocker

Alex Lubyansky, a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, has developed BarCardz, an on-line social networking card that users can exchange during a face-to-face meeting that requires authentication for added security against cyber-stalkers.

Excerpt:

“The key,” said Lubyansky, “is that you build your network face-to-face. There is no search engine on the site, so no one can ‘troll’ for people to harass.”

What the site does include is plenty of humor. This includes a “Play Book” of inventive ways to get a BarCard into the right hands, and a “Wall Of Shame” documenting world-class shoot-downs.
