Detroit’s Asterand acquires BioSeek
Asterand, TechTown’s main tenant, continues to grow now that it has acquired a drug-development company.The Detroit-based firm bought San Francisco-based BioSeek, a pioneer in the application of predictive human biology to drug discovery through its human primary cell-based disease model. The deal is worth $14 million.Asterand is considered a leader in human tissue research and development. This acquisition is part of its larger strategy to consolidate its position in the global human tissue and human tissue-based services market, both organically and through acquisitions.
