A Spike Lee joint: Filmmaker is keynote speaker for U-M Black Business Students Association
Marriott Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti
Dec. 4-7
Filmmaker
Spike Lee, best known for socially provocative movies like
Do the Right Thing and
X, is coming to town to speak at a conference hosted by University of Michigan Business School students.
Lee will give a keynote speech on Dec. 6 at the Marriott (1275 South Huron St., Ypsilanti) during a convention held by the
Black Business Student Association. The 33rd annual Alfred L. Edwards Conference runs Dec. 4-7.
The Emmy-award winning and Academy Award-nominated Lee, whose latest film is the
Miracle of St. Anna, will be the lone non-corporate speaker at the conference. Lee has been given total freedom to talk about whatever he likes, and will not be limited to topics or issues related to business. Yes, this could be a whole lot of fun.
The Alfred L. Edwards Conference, an annual event that helps to build relationships between students and alumni, aims to address current global, economic and corporate issues. This year’s theme is “Building Your Legacy: Achieving Personal, Professional and Philanthropic Success.”
The conference is open to the public. To register, go
