Frenetically inventive: Belgian animated film 'A Town Called Panic' screens at DFT

Shop: Popartmonkey textiles

Bureau of Urban Living

Now, that's what we're talking about. Two of our favorite Detroit cultural enterprises have come together to mix business with pleasure. This week painter Carl Oxley III launched his new line of textiles, including pillows and coin purses, at the Bureau of Urban Living, the newish Midtown retailer that sells all things mod and fashionable for the home or office. Oxley's signature Popartmonkey imagery — lovestruck giraffes, electrified rabbits, happy robots and more —has made its way onto murals in Woodbridge and Hamtramck, where his online company is based. He will also have new paintings available at BUL, where the items are available during regular business hours. The shop at 460 W. Canfield, Detroit is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Call 313-833-9336 for more info.
