Glenn Barr is cause for celebration. An artist who led a new wave of colorful, comics-inspired painting and toys in the 1990s unveiling nearly a decade’s worth of original works, prints and published works. The last 10 years have been good to Barr: his works have been shown in galleries in Seattle and San Francisco on the west coast: New York City and Europe. Barr’s animated figures have also appeared on the
The Ren and Stimpy Show, Bjork’s
"I Miss You" video and "The New Woody Woodpecker Show," in addition to numerous comics and graphic novels.
International art magazines from Juxtapoz, Hi Fructose and Film Threat have waxed ecstatic over Barr’s voyeuristic, post-industrial universe that adorn his paintings, often times populated with morally bankrupt vixens, disembodied cherubs and erotic robots.
The show is up now at
323East Gallery (323 E. Fourth St., Royal Oak) and runs through Nov. 27.
