URBAN OASIS (Ann Arbor)

Smartly observed, passionately written weblog on architecture, history, preservation, planning, and urbanism.

And sometimes that public retaliates with some scathing comments.

DETROIT ARTS (Detroit)

Detroit. Fine Arts. Blog. Pretty much sums it up. BUT blogger/artist Ann Gordon recently gave her fond adieu to the Motor City before taking off for Europe. End of blog? Maybe, maybe not.

Stay tuned for further developments, check out her Euro artistic experiences at http://leblogvoyage.blogspot.com/ or enjoy Detroit Arts' archive for its insight, wit and fabulous taste.

VACUUM (Ann Arbor)

Ed Vielmetti is Ann Arbor's pied piper of Web 2.0 new urbanist geek culture and all round swell guy. A relentless networker and vital strand in the social and high tech spiderweb of A2 start ups and up starts, his blog is really more of a free-for-all of interesting links and informational tidbits. For short attention spans and expansive minds.

CLEWS  (Suburban Detroit)

MICHIGAN INDIAN COMMUNITY BLOG and MI MANTRA (state wide)

Michigan has Indians. The kind Christopher Columbus thought he ran into (but didn't). Actually, Indian immigrants represent the third largest immigrant population in the U.S. and are over 30K strong in the Mitten State. The local community also has a blog or two. These are it. No more words. Check it out.

DETROIT BLOG (Detroit)

"This is about all things Detroit: things to do, places to see, people to know, from the East Side to West Side, and from downtown to the little neighborhoods. I love Detroit, even the old Detroit of blight, waste and emptiness. Hockeytown. Motown. I grew up here, had my best times here. It’s my home."

DETROPTIC (Detroit)

A chronicle of Detroit in arresting photographs.

INFORMED COMMENT (Ann Arbor)

The Website of professor Juan Cole, commentator on Middle Eastern affairs. He has appeared in print and on television, and testified before the United States Senate. He has also published several books on the state of modern Middle East and is a translator of both Arabic and Persian. Needless to say, his views can be politically charged given the current state of affairs in that part of the world.
