Trader Joe’s is meeting with Grosse Pointe’s planning commission to solidify their intention to move into a portion of the former Jacobson’s on Kercheval.

The proposed Trader Joe’s store would take up 13,206 square feet of the defunct department store.

The grocer’s entrance would face a parking area rather than Kercheval Avenue, the shopping district’s main street.

Trader Joe’s would be located in the Kercheval Place development, which is currently home to Coldwater Creek, a women’s apparel store, and men’s clothier Jos. A. Banks. Both have opened in the past four months and face Kercheval.
