Three new businesses are in line to move into Northville Square within the coming weeks. The new openings are expected to boost the downtown development's occupancy level beyond 62 percent.
That's looking up for the 1973 building which was, until recently, largely closed off from the rest of the affluent suburb's downtown. Margene and Bob Buckhave spearheaded the project on the downtown's west side (133 West Main St.), turning what had long been the home of the Michigan Association of Gift Salesmen into a small downtown shopping center.
Among the new stores opening in the 90,000 square feet of space is The Chase Bar & Grill, expected to open next week. The Empire Deli, which bills itself as a real New York City deli, will come online in mid November.
"It's an authentic New York City deli," Margene Buckhave says. "All of the products are coming in from New York or Italy. It's going to be the best of the best."
The owners of that deli also want to open a specialty dog store in the mall early next year once the deli is up and running. There is still office and retail space available in the project. For information on Northville Square, call (248) 347-3900.
