Grosse Pointe Park "Brownstones" set move-ins for Oct.
metromode, 7/31/2008
The skeleton of
The Brownstones at the Park
is up in Grosse Pointe Park as work hammers toward a fall finish.
Construction is supposed to be completed on the 22-brownstone condo development by late October so new residents can move in. A model unit will open at the same time. So far three of the first six condos have already sold.
The brownstones are replacing seven early 20th Century duplexes that were razed earlier this year. Bloomfield Hills-based
Robertson Brothers
is putting up the first six units along Lake Pointe Drive. It's part of an effort to replace older rental housing with new owner-occupied units.
The development is roughly one block away from city hall, the police station, the library and about one block north of Jefferson Avenue. It's also a 15-minute drive from downtown Detroit. The condos will start in the $170,000s. The rest of the brownstones will be built as they are sold.
Each condo has two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms inside of 1,600 square feet. Either a two-car garage or a large one-car garage comes with each unit. There will also be more on-street or on-site parking spots for a total of 55 spaces.
