Construction has finished on the new Affirmations Community Center in downtown Ferndale.
The three-story structure is located at 290 W. 9 Mile Road. The 18,000-square-foot building features an art gallery, cyber café, community center, offices and meeting space. It is one of the largest new construction projects in downtown Ferndale in years and replaces an old retail store that had been razed.
Affirmations is the largest gay and lesbian organization in Michigan. It provides a variety of programs, services and social opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals Metro Detroit. Affirmations’ mission is to provide a welcoming place to every day people where they can have fun, learn, socialize, grow, be supported and find acceptance.
