Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit opens fourth gallery
Model D, 5/15/2008
Three wasn't enough for the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit: the organization has opened its fourth gallery, MassiV, at the Russell Industrial Center.
Excerpt:
The installation makes use of the large, 5,000-square-foot space, which is precisely the reason CAID took on a fourth location. "It's an open space with no walls and large ceilings, which will give us the opportunity to show some major shows," says executive director Aaron Timlin. "Huge stone pieces, huge installations, anything goes."
MassiV will host CAID's extensive art library and will house an architectural design studio, coordinated by the organization's board chair, Amy Green Deines. Workshops will be also offered in conjunction with various Russell studios such as Michigan Hot Glass.
