If you don't smell like gas after filling your tank you can partly thank Raval Inc. The Israel-based company manufactures vapor valve technology and just passed over a site in Tennessee to make its North American base in Rochster Hills.

Investing nearly $7 million in a new 33,000 square foot design, development and manufacturing facility, Raval expects to create 65 jobs in southeast Michigan over five years, adding 26 hires  in the first 24 months.

Raval currently has contracts with General Motors Corp. and intends to pursue other North American OEMs. There currently eight people in the office and assembly equipment is on the way.

The company, which typically supplies to fuel tank manufacturers, claims it has more than 50 percent of the vapor valve market in Europe. Its valves and vents regulate emissions and keep the air clean of toxic fumes. The new Rochester Hills headquarters will expand Raval's global reach, joining their three other facilities in Revivim Israel, China and Luxembourg.
