Relocating its headquarters from California to Michigan in 2006, Advanced Photonix, is a leading supplier of optoelectronic photo-detector components, subsystems and systems for telecommunications networks, medical diagnostics, military sensors, industrial quality control and homeland security screening.
API supports the customer from the initial concept through full-scale production and validation/test. Their served markets are: Telecom, Homeland Security, Military, Medical, and Industrial/NDT. The Ann Arbor facility provides space for manufacturing as well as R&D. Advanced Photonix has made a $2.6 million 2-year deal with an un-named military contractor for missile guidance systems.
Upon completion of its new research and development facility in Ann Arbor, the company will consolidate employees from California and Wisconsin to Michigan as well as add more local hires, adding an estimated 105 direct and indirect jobs in SE Michigan over the next decade.
